Babe…LISTEN UP! If you want a smooth, even, non-patchy spray tan, this part matters. What most people don’t realize is that the result of a great spray tan starts with you. Proper skin prep is essential for achieving even, long-lasting color. In order for our high grade solutions to process evenly, your skin needs to be prepped correctly before your appointment. A spray tan is 50% me, 50% you! Teamwork makes the glow work baby! Follow the instructions below for the best results possible.
Pre - Spray Tan Prep
Gently exfoliate your entire body 24 to 48 hours before your appointment using an exfoliating mitt or an oil-free scrub. Timing matters here & exfoliating too close or too far out can affect results.
Please skip Tree Hut scrubs and similar exfoliants that contain oils, alcohol, sulfates, & strong fragrance. For my avid self tanner & spray tan girlies… Please PLEASE!! Any previous tanner must be fully removed prior to your appointment. For best results, use a dedicated tan remover and exfoliating gloves. If you know me, you know the Rose & Caramel 60 Second Tan Remover is my holy grail & I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Avoid bar soaps like Dial, Dove, Irish Spring, or similar for at least 72 hours before your session. These products leave residue on the skin that can affect the application & development of your tan. Recommended soap brands include CereVe, Cetaphil, and La Roche-Posay.
Please avoid products that contain alcohol, sulfates, & strong fragrance.
4. Begin moisturizing your full body once daily for at least a week leading up to your appointment, stopping the night before. Hydrated skin = smoother, longer-lasting results. Recommended brands include CereVe, Hempz, Vaseline Intensive Care, Cetaphil, La Roche-Posay, and Lubriderm.
Please avoid brands like EOS, ANY/ALL Bath & Body Works, and similar moisturizers that contain alcohol, sulfates, & strong fragrance.
5. Avoid any products high in PH. Products that disrupt your skin’s natural pH can interfere with your spray tan. Keeping your routine simple is key.
6. Avoid showering, shaving, or using hair products within 12 hours of your appointment. If you must rinse beforehand, use cool water only and skip all soaps or products.
7. Be appointment ready with clean, product-free skin. No lotion, deodorant, perfume, oils, makeup, or spray tan prep barriers. We want your custom spray to be applied onto a fresh, clean pallet!
8. Last but most certainly not least… Dress for success! Wear loose-fitting, dark clothing after your session to prevent rubbing or streaking while your tan develops.

Don’t clock out just yet! Your spray tan doesn’t stop developing when you leave your appointment. If you want your glow to stay fresh, even, and hydrated, post-tan care is a must. Moisturizing daily, using non-toxic and spray-tan-safe products, and drinking plenty of water will make all the difference. Yes… That means hydration inside and out, just like you should be doing anyway! Following these steps helps your tan look smooth, last longer, and fade evenly from day one to day ten.
Post - Spray Tan Care
Wait the given amount of processing time. Your processing time is customized to your solution and desired depth. I’ll tell you when to rinse & this step is crucial for proper color development.
Stay dry while processing. Avoid sweating, workouts, rain, swimming, or anything that could get you wet until it’s time to rinse.
Only wear loose, dark clothing is until your rinse. If processing overnight, wear long, loose pants and a long-sleeve top/sweatshirt to bed to protect your tan.
No products until after your first rinse! Do not apply perfume, lotion, makeup, oils, or deodorant, while your tan is still processing.
When it’s time to rinse, make it quick! Rinse with lukewarm water until it runs clear to remove the cosmetic bronzer. Check for any leftover streaks and keep rinsing if needed!
No soap during your first rinse.Skip shaving and hair washing at first rinse. Your first shower should be a rinse-only. No shaving, no shampoo, and no body wash.
7. Use tan-friendly skincare! Aftercare products play a huge role in how your tan looks AND fades. A gentle spray tan–safe body wash and a daily moisturizing lotion will keep your glow even and hydrated.
Recommended brands include La Roche-Posay, Cetaphil, and SheaMoisture.
8. Read your ingredient labels. Products containing sulfates, alcohol, parabens, petroleum, and mineral oils can cause uneven fading and shorten the life of your tan.
9. Hydration inside and out. Moisturize daily and drink plenty of water. Well-hydrated skin holds color better!
10. Avoid chlorine and hot tubs!
11. Anti-aging products, retinoids, toners, acids (salicylic, glycolic, lactic, etc.), acne medications, and similar treatments will fade your tan quickly.

You will NOT look orange with me babyyy! I custom-blend to your undertones, select/adjust the DHA based on your skin type (and your desired color), + I use premium solutions. Your color develops into a soft golden-brown, NOT orange, NOT brassy!
